It’s a Golden Milk Turmeric Ginger Latte that is packed with antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties from the ground turmeric and fresh ginger, various vitamins and minerals as well as fibre and energy from the dates, and many vitamins and minerals from the coconut milk.
So – This is a power drink for sure.
And a completely delicious one at that. When I say it’s thick, I mean in the smoothest, richest, creamiest way imaginable, and when I say it’s sweet & spicy, I mean it has the perfect balance of flavours to make it a lightly sweetened, lightly spiced, hot and comforting drink that has a tiny kick at the end of each sip.
The colour, well the colour of this drink is enough to make me smitten just by looking at it. “GOLDEN MILK” is certainly an apt description of this gorgeous latte.
Haldi Doodh, or “Golden Milk” is apparently an ancient Indian beverage that was made with just milk and turmeric, or just hot water and turmeric, or just coconut milk and sometimes coconut oil and turmeric. It seems different combinations of the above were enjoyed on different occasions.
My version has a few more ingredients to give it a bit more flavour, and the extra health benefits never hurt!

I’m aware that a warm turmeric drink doesn’t exactly sound like the most amazing thing ever…sounds a bit odd, am I right? And maybe like it will taste too much like a savoury soup and nothing at all like a warm and comforting, frothy latte should. Yes? I know, I had those thoughts myself, BUT…
Boy was I wrong! This drink is truly DELICIOUS!!
And I encourage you to give it a chance…if you’re a fellow herbal tea drinker / London fog drinker / healthy hot chocolate fiend like me – I’m convinced you will love this Golden Milk Turmeric Ginger Latte. I’m even pretty confident you avid coffee drinkers might just like a little mug of Golden Milk every once in a while.
While my love affair with this Golden Milk Turmeric Ginger Latte continues all through the weekend, I’ve also got a few other plans…like a little coffee and “vegan chocolate tart” at the Litchi Orchard today (can highly recommend), a live music concert on Sunday, and a few calming yoga sessions thrown in. It’s going to be a good weekend!

- 1 cup coconut milk
- 1½ cups milk (or dairy free milk of your choice)
- 1 tsp turmeric
- ½ tsp cinnamon
- ¼ tsp nutmeg
- ⅛ tsp black pepper
- 2 dates, pitted
- ½ tsp fresh ginger, peeled
- Place coconut milk, milk, spices and pepper in a small saucepan and heat on a medium heat until hot (do not boil). The mixture will go golden yellow as it heats up.
- Allow the milk mixture to cool for about 5 minutes (or as long as your blender specifies).
- Pour the milk mixture into the blender with the dates and ginger and blend until smooth and creamy.
- Pour the latte into two mugs and enjoy.
