Hi! I’m Sal, welcome to Berry Sweet Life, I’m so glad you stopped by!
For about as long as I can remember I have loved cooking and baking. It started out as a weekend hobby, cooking for friends and family. Baking was a form of therapy for me, to clear the mind – and have something delicious to eat! And slowly but surely my cooking evolved into a way of life, cooking with the freshest, most wholesome and nutritious ingredients I could find, and challenging myself to come up with ways to turn those ingredients into mouth wateringly delicious meals, side dishes, breakfasts, smoothies and drinks.
I love food, and I have come to REALLY LOVE healthy food! I grew up eating a lot of fruit and vegetables and as a result, I still crave healthy, nourishing meals. I just feel so much better when I live a balanced, healthy lifestyle, and the biggest part of that is the food that I eat. I really enjoy making vegetarian meals and sugar free desserts, but occasionally I’ll share a really indulgent recipe – we all need a little treat every now and then!
I grew up in Zimbabwe (southern Africa) and lived there my whole life apart from a few years here and there travelling and living in different places. I’m thankful for such a simple start in life, and for all the memories I have of a true African childhood.
I recently made a huge change by moving to the Dolphin Coast, Durban, South Africa. So far it has been quite an adventure, there have been some challenging days – not to mention the humidity – my hair has never been so curly! It’s a fresh start & I love living right by the sea. I get to walk on the beach most evenings. Everything is new and exciting and I can’t wait to see where life takes me….
I love travel and little getaways, as well as trying out local coffee shops, so I’ll be sharing these adventures with you occasionally.
My other passions include yoga, cardio classes, photography, dark chocolate truffles and dark chocolate in general, any kind of fruity dessert and my sweet 7 year old Spaniel, Louie!
Thanks for visiting! Take a look around the blog, I hope you find something you love! And keep coming back, you’ll always be welcome!
