I have made this smoothie over and over again at home, determined to find a way to make the perfect chocolate smoothie, tweaking it as I went, a little more cocoa here, a touch less coconut milk there.  Until I discovered the PUUURFECT combination of ingredients to achieve a very chocolatey, perfectly spiced, THICK and CREAMY smoothie with a hint of coconut.  I used to make this smoothie with honey, until I tried it with dates, and OH MYYY!!  I’ll never make it with anything but dates again…

The dates give this smoothie a richness and the perfect amount of sweetness (not too much).

This incredibly yummy chocolate smoothie is made with bananas, coconut milk, cocoa powder, ground cinnamon, dates and vanilla essence…It’s really very easy to make, and if you’re anything like me you’ll be craving one of these smoothies at least once a week from now on!!  Get that chocolate fix the healthy way.

A simply divine, healthy and easy to make, thick and creamy chocolate smoothie, ready in 5 minutes and made with all good-for-you ingredients! Perfect for breakfast or as a mid-afternoon snack.

Ingredients
  • 2 bananas
  • 1 cup coconut milk
  • 3 tsp cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 dates
  • dash of water if necessary
Instructions
  1. Place everything in a blender and blend until smooth and creamy.  Add a dash of water if the smoothie is too thick.

  2. Pour into a glass and enjoy!

Recipe Notes

Notes: This smoothie can be made with Greek yoghurt, just use 3 - 4 tbsp yoghurt in place of the coconut milk.
